Chenrezig or Avalokiteshvara is a bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. Avalokiteśvara is the bodhisattva who has made a great vow to assist sentient beings in times of difficulty and to postpone their own buddhahood until they have assisted every sentient being in achieving nirvana.
Amitābha is known for his attributes of longevity, magnetizing, discernment, pure perception and the deep awareness of emptiness of phenomena. Amitābha possesses infinite merits resulting from good deeds over countless past lives as a bodhisattva named Dharmakāra. Amitābha is considered one of the Five Dhyāni Buddhas, who is associated with the western direction, the aggregate of distinguishing (recognition) and the deep awareness of individualities.
