Master Thangka Painter

Kumar Lama is a master thangka painter, born in a small Buddhist community bordering Tibet in Northern Nepal called Yolmo. He began his training at age nine, a prodigy discovered by the highly respected teacher Palden Lama.

In 1994 he met Dzogchen Master Lama Tharchin Rinpoche while exhibiting in Switzerland and was invited to come to the United States under the sponsorship of the Vajrayana Foundation where he was the Master Thangka painter for six years.

Currently, Kumar Lama is painting, teaching and exhibiting his work throughout California.
