This fine quality copper statue of Green Tara, who is the mother of all bodhisattvas, was made in Nepal by traditional crafts people. The statue is partially gilded, with a hand-painted gold face. The finely-cast ornaments are detailed with turquoise- and coral-colored stones. Her left forefinger and thumb are joined in the vitarka mudra, which signifies teaching and intellectual argument, while her right hand performs the varada mudra, which signifies the granting of blessings and the fulfillment of wishes. Green Tara is especially associated with enlightened activity.
