The story of the rudraksha tree goes like this... Shiva spent 1000 years in meditation for the benefit of all beings. Then, upon arising from equipoise and looking upon a suffering world, he cried tears of compassion which fell to the earth and grew into the rudraksha tree. It should be of no surprise, therefore, that the Sanskrit word "rudraksha" means literally "Shiva's eyes." Having grown in the Himalayas, rudraksha is said to contain the blessings of the sacred mountains, where the highest point of the earth becomes one with the vastness of the sky. This particular mala was handmade in Nepal with only the finest quality rudraksha seeds. 108 rondelle-shaped 8mm rudraksha seeds strung on red mala string with an approximately 14mm circular rudraksha guru bead and 4 rudraksha end beads for the tassles- two on each side. May the seed of compassion grow strong!
