Parting from the Four Attachments
Parting from the Four Attachments
Title: PARTING FROM THE FOUR ATTACHMENTS
Secondary Title: A Commentary on Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen’s Song of Experience on Mind Training and the View
Description: The teaching on Parting from the Four Attachments is universally regarded as one of the Jewels of Tibetan Buddhism. In the present commentary, Chogye Trinchen Rinpoche lays bare the signs of authentic Dharma practice, while pointing out the pitfalls practitioners inevitably stray into, and showing how these faults may be rectified through the development of proper motivation. Great emphasis is placed on developing a depth of feeling toward the faults of samsara, as well as the heartfelt love and compassion necessary to truly give rise to altruism. Unfolding the essential points for practice of each stage of mind training according to the Mahayana Buddhist teachings, Rinpoche leads his listeners into a detailed and lucid discussion of the genuine view of the true nature of mind. Finally, we are introduced to the unity of clarity and emptiness, the recognition of primordial wisdom, known as Mahamudra, the Great perfection, and, in the Sakya tradition, as the inseparability of Samsara and Nirvana (Khordey Yermay.)
Chogye Trichen Rinpoche is head of the Tsharpa branch of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and is a primary teacher of H.H. the Dalai Lama, H.H. Sakya Trinzin, and many other great lamas.
